For some months, there has been a rumor spreading about the partnership deal of J Cole and Puma, today it had been confirmed by the athletic brand that he had joined the host of other artists working with the brand.
Puma unveiled the partnership with a 15-second video post on social media on Thursday, 13, 2020, at about 10 a.m ET, the rapper Jermaine Cole was seen playing basketball clad in its apparel and footwear. The video clip shows J. Coles famed missed impromptu dunk during the 2019 All-Star Slam Dunk competition, the next one he threw after that went down without missing.
Also, Puma, the German sportswear company, shares a longer video titled “The Dreamer,” which is also had a theme of basketball with featured home videos of J. Cole as well as his missed and made dunks.
Meanwhile, the terms of the deal have not been disclosed as from the fact that it is a multiyear deal. But the sportswear brand did confirm that Puma and Cole will release a line of footwear and apparel this year, 2020.
The Puma’s Sky Dreamer makes its retail debut today, hence coinciding with the announcement of the partnership deal with Cole. The Sky Dreamer is an advanced version of their Sky LX, which was an on-court from the 1980s. It has a “Dreamer” logo, which according to Puma, was inspired by J. Cole’s record label, Dreamville Records. It will go on retail for $130.

“Cole’s involved in product creation, marketing campaigns, and cultural guidance. He is going to be a key player in many of the things we do at Puma moving forward. We are excited to work with him not only on a product level but even more important as one of our athletes. J. Cole sits at the intersection of music and sport and represents everything that Puma stands for as a brand.”
J. Cole’s appearance in a basketball-themed Puma advert is not a surprise to his fans. He has done many projects with names inspired by the game. “The Warm Up” and “Friday Night Lights,” he also played in his high school team and attempted being a work-on in college for St. Johns University.
He has joined the list of other megastars who are in partnership with Puma as their ambassador.
